After a very stressful couple of months, Cole and I decided it would be best to try to rent our Wyman St. house. It was on the market for about 2.5 months, and we were not having any luck selling it. We had to pay a couple months of two mortgages which was very stressful on top of the ups and downs of having the house on the market. People would like the house and then not put an offer on it. This scenario seemed to happen every week or so. So after much thought, we decided it would be best to rent it.
We first posted the house for rent on the Emory off campus housing website. We got a few interests, but the house was not the right fit for the people who were interested (everyone had a family with children which meant the house was too small). Last week, I posted the house for rent on Craigslist. WOW, this was the best decision ever! Our house was so hot on Craigslist. I had at least 3-5 people each day emailing/calling to see the house and find out more information about it. It was so nice to see all of the interest in our house! However, it was a bit of a full time job for me managing showings, answering questions, etc. Which as you can imagine, was a bit difficult since I also have Noah full time. He was quite the trooper though dealing with momma being glued to the phone and being dragged over to Wyman St. to show the house. Luckily, Cole was also able to show the house a good bit which really helped!
It was all worth it because we found some great tenants! Our tenants are two females in their 30's with one older female cat named Petunia. They seem really sweet and laid back and are starting to move in this weekend. We are all so EXCITED!! We will continue to keep you updated on life as landlords!
