Noah's 2 week Update

Noah had his 2 week check up earlier this week at the pediatrician. By the way, if any Atlanta parents are looking for a great pediatrician, we would highly recommend Dr. Jessica Doyle. She is just amazing...knowledgeable, young, laid back, open to alternative treatments, local (lives in Lake Claire with her hubby and 2 young children). The practice is located on Scott Blvd in Decatur and is pretty new (www.correctmed.com). Her father, Dr. Goo, runs the urgent care portion of the practice and she runs the primary care pediatric side. Her mom is a certified nurse midwife who does adolescent gynecology there too. A great family run practice!!

Back to Noah's checkup....Our sweet boy is weighing in now at 9.15 lbs and is 22 inches long!! He loves to eat and is growing like a weed! He currently is in the 97% percentile for height and 70% for weight. He did get his first vaccination, Hep B, at this appt which was no fun for Noah, Momma and Daddy. He screamed his head off during the entire process. :( Most newborns get this shot while in the hospital, but we opted to delay this vaccine. Cole and I have decided to vaccinate Noah, but we are going to delay some vaccines and follow Dr. Sears's recommended vaccination schedule instead of the CDC schedule. Noah passed with flying colors the rest of his 2 week checkup. Cole and I feel so lucky to have such a healthy and happy baby!

In other Noah news, breastfeeding is continuing to go great (like I said, this boy loves to eat!), and he feeds anywhere from every 2-4 1/2 hours. He tends to eat more like every 2-3 1/2 hours during the day and every 3-4 1/2 hours at night which is so nice! Thank you Noah for giving Momma some longer stretches of sleep at night! He usually goes straight down for his naps and nighttime sleep which is really nice too! I am hoping things stay this way, but I will take it for now at least!

He is for the most part a very peaceful and happy baby. The only time he really cries is when he is hungry or needs a diaper change. He loves his vibrating bouncy seat and is perfectly happy hanging out in it while momma checks email, takes a bath/shower, writes the blog, etc. Now don't get me wrong, he LOVES to  be held, but he def. is not one of those babies that has to be held all the time in order to be happy and calm. So far, I would classify him as an "easy" baby. I sure hope I am not jinxing myself by writing this right now!

In other very exciting news, Dr. Doyle recommended that we try giving Noah a bottle of pumped breast milk now to help prevent refusal of the bottle at a later age. So, yesterday evening Cole tried giving Noah his first bottle. I was a little nervous that he was going to reject the bottle, but sure enough, he took it all down in no time at all. Cole and I were so excited that he liked the bottle! We are going to continue practicing with the bottle in hopes that Momma will be able to go on some solo outings and eventually return to tutoring and go on date nights with Daddy again soon!;)

Enjoy the photos of Noah from this week!
